3 Amazing Vegan Restaurants in Liverpool

Social media management for Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and Instagram.

Veganuary is begun, and according to the figures, over 80,000 people have pledged to give veganism a shot this month. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up three of our favourite vegan restaurants in and around Liverpool to give you a helping hand. Long gone are the days when being vegan meant being constricted to ordering a salad, and now veggie restaurants attract plant eaters and meat eaters alike. From healthy eats to indulgent delight, there’s plenty to choose from. Let’s get started – are you hungry?

1. Down The Hatch

Down The Hatch on Duke Street is a haven for veggies, as their dirty junk food offers something devilishly different. If you love fried food, you’ll be right at home here. DTH prides itself on its home cooked food but with a dirty, junk food twist, and it’s built a solid reputation with both vegans and omnivores. The menu will leave you spoilt for choice – especially if you’re used to only having a couple of items to choose from. With huge burgers, hot dogs, deep fried veg and naughty desserts on offer, you’re sure to find something that suits. We recommend the Cauliflower 5 Ways and the Captain Jacks jackfruit burger.

2. The Caledonia

There’s something special about The Caledonia. It’s one of Liverpool’s oldest and most popular pubs, and in 2017 switched up its menus so that everything is completely meat and animal product-free. The Cali has been independent since 2010, and is renowned for doing things differently. It’s a dog-friendly venue, with four-legged friends warmly welcomed – you can even get dog-friendly beer! The menu’s huge too. Think burgers, hotdogs, loaded fries and wings. You might find it hard to choose, so if you’re stuck why not keep it simple with the Baecn DBL Chs and Jalepeno Poppers.

3. The Old Hardware Shop

The Old Hardware Shop can be found in Woolton, and this cosy little cafe is meat-free and proud. A huge menu offers a whole host of goodies that will suit vegetarians, veggies, flexitarians and even meat eaters! A huge breakfast menu is ideal for those who love brunch (and brinner), and there are plenty of sandwiches, toasties and subs with all sorts of wonderful toppings. As a cafe, there’s a brilliant drinks menu too, with coffees, soft drinks, milkshakes and even retro coke floats on offer. We’d go for the meatball and chorizo sub washed down with a chocolate peanut butter milkshake, but we’re just greedy. 😏
