3 Romantic Date Ideas in Manchester

Social media management for Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and Instagram.

Valentine’s Day has rolled around again, so to celebrate we’ve listed three of the most romantic date venues that Manchester has to offer. There’s no shortage of incredible bars and restaurants across our fine city, so if you’re looking to impress your date, partner or even just your friend, you’re sure to be spoilt for choice. It was hard to pick just three, so we’ve gone for a selection that will definitely get you straight into their good books. Let’s go, Romeo.

1. El Gato Negro

King Street tapas restaurant El Gato Negro is one of many Spanish restaurants in Manchester, and it’s a firm favourite for loved-up couples. The ambient venue features stripped back brickwork, bold artwork and recycled wood, giving a romantic feel to the ground floor. The popular top floor bar is covered by a sliding roof, making it a wonderful spot on a warm day. Food-wise, you can’t go wrong with tapas. Pick a wide selection of small plates (jamon, cheese, olives and an array of seafood at the very least), and pair it with a bottle of La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva, and you should be in for a winner. Who knows, the black cat could bring you all the luck you need on your date. 😉

2. Tattu

Luxury Spinningfields Chinese restaurant Tattu is perhaps the ultimate date spot. Mood lighting? Check. Sleek walnut bar area? Check. 4-metre-tall cherry blossom tree providing perfect Instagram opportunities? Check and check. But does the food live up to the surroundings? Almost definitely. We’re talking lavish dim sum with high-end ingredients, including wagyu, foie gras, lobster and truffle. The cocktails are a sight to behold, too. Why not share a ‘Roses are Red’ (fitting), with a mix of gin, rhubarb and rose. If you want to wow your sweetheart, Tattu is a glamorous choice that oozes style and substance.

3. King Street Townhouse

Manchester is awash with stunning hotels, but the King Street Townhouse must take the top spot for a romantic city stay. The boutique offering from the Eclectic Hotel Collection prides itself on its location – right opposite the town hall. Imagine taking a bath in your suite and looking out over the impressive clock tower, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy gazing at Albert Square from the warmth of the heated infinity pool. A suite in the Grade II-listed Italian Renaissance building will set you back a fair amount, but it’s worth it for the brownie points you’ll get from the booking. If you’re a fan of luxury hotel stays, the Townhouse is definitely one you need to add to your list.
