A Day in the Life Of… WFH Edition: Aimee

How have you made the transition to working from home?

It’s not been too bad, to be honest! Mostly I miss the companionship you get with working in an office, but we’ve kept communication open and running smoothly – I feel like we’ve really stepped up to the mark and we’re still very much on top of our game.

What’s your number one tool getting you through this?

Well, as most of my day is spent copywriting, my number one tool that gets me through LIFE is Google Sheets. It’s an absolute lifesaver – I won’t even get into how many Sheets I actually work from. I love it, and a few of our team have actually been getting snazzy with it recently.

Who are you sharing your living space with?

My housemate Amy! Yep, Aimee & Amy. Never gets confusing. I also have a lifesize cardboard cutout of Draco Malfoy, but he doesn’t talk much.

What single daily habit could you not do without?

As we live in a block of flats, it’s quite difficult to get out in the sun whilst you’re working from home, so my daily dose of sitting in our courtyard reading/colouring/people-watching is something I always look forward to.

What’s the biggest challenge?

As mentioned before, I live in a flat but it has no balcony or garden so there are days where you feel like you don’t see the outside world at all. Definitely a challenge!

How would you describe your work/life balance during the current situation?

To be honest, it feels quite strange – as you aren’t leaving the office, it feels like you never really clock off! We’re all so determined to be constantly on top of our game for our clients that I think we all struggle to switch off for a bit.

Which book would you recommend others to read and why?

Ooooh, I’m a total book geek and my answer for this changes daily. I just finished reading Her Body & Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado and I couldn’t put it down. Would definitely recommend!

What show are you bingeing right now?

I am currently binge-watching old episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Literally obsessed.

Tell us something about your day to day that would surprise people.

It’s probably not even that surprising due to my cardboard friend I previously mentioned, but have been spending my day recreating Hogwarts through LEGO. I don’t recommend – it’s an expensive hobby.

Ultimate lockdown meal?

F A J I T A S. As pasta is non-existent around these parts, I’ve turned to my next staple; fajitas. There’s just so much variety involved! – And there’s always the challenge of getting them as spicy as possible, of course.

What’s the one thing you miss most?

Although we keep in close communication, I miss DMT and the office. Can’t wait to get back to normality.
