We caught up with PPC Exec Rhyse to find out how he’s finding working from home.
How have you made the transition to working from home?
The transition has actually been relatively smooth for me, I’ve got my work Mac, second monitor, office chair and conveniently, there was already an office space already set up in front room so I’ve had it easier than most. Routine and planning have been essential to the transition. We are lucky to be involved digital industry as I can imagine it isn’t this easy for most people.
What’s your number one tool getting you through this?
The most helpful tool in my opinion is Google Hangouts, this has been essential during this time as our clients are able to contact multiple team members whenever they need.
Who are you sharing your living space with?
I’m sharing my living space with my uncle, cousin and my girlfriend. With that brings its own challenges but nothing that isn’t navigable.
What single daily habit could you not do without?
I never thought I would say this but at the moment it seems to be yoga. The stillness and relaxation that it brings is essential to maintaining a positive state of mind. You can usually leave your work at the office so it’s essential to have mental clarity during these times.
What’s the biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge is definitely the urge to resist snacking. A strict fasting regime till 2pm has now been implemented into my daily routine.
How would you describe your work/life balance during the current situation?
I feel like my work/life balance has actually improved given the circumstances. It’s surprising the amount of extra time you have not traveling to your workplace and the amount you can achieve given this extra time.
Which book would you recommend others to read and why?
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. A great, eye-opening read about the human species and our effect on the world around us.
What show are you bingeing right now?
I have actually barely watched any Netflix during this lockdown. Although, I have watched the infamous Joe Exotic – Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness. “That B*tch Carole Baskin!”
Tell us something about your day to day that would surprise people.
I’m actually learning to speak Finnish at the moment, that’s keeping my mind active throughout the day and extremely interesting to learn how the language is formed. I could definitely have picked an easier language to learn but as my girlfriend is Finnish it’s important to impress her parents.
Ultimate lockdown meal?
Hmmmm. My diet has drastically changed since the lockdown, no more snacks or takeaways. I think my ultimate lockdown meal has been homemade Chicken Kievs, dauphinoise potatoes and tender stem broccoli. Lockdown is treating me good.
What’s the one thing you miss most?
I definitely miss the vibe in the office, we have done a great job at maintaining this but I was really enjoying the daily atmosphere/banter.
We’ll be back with our next ‘Day in the Life of’ soon… Watch this space!
