The last few weeks have seen a lot of changes here at Digital Media Team, and our new recruits are settling into the company really well! The newest person to become part of the paid social team is Charlotte. Hailing from the North East, she’s looking forward to joining us in Manchester when the pandemic simmers down. Let’s get to know her a little bit better, shall we?
The Work Stuff 📈
Tell us a little bit about your role of paid social executive here at DMT.
Being a paid social executive means I get to work with clients and optimise their ad accounts across social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and others to ensure that people see the best and most relevant ads possible.
Tell us about your background. What led you to this career in paid social?
After finishing my degree in English Literature, I began work in communications. This role showed me the importance of working with technology and the impact social media can have. It also revealed that I crave a fast-paced environment where I get to make decisions and see the results of my actions. When the opportunity to work at Digital Media Team came about it seemed like the perfect fit!
What is something unique that you think you bring to the paid social role?
I think my background in English Literature will help me to look at the data and pull insights from it in a creative way, and hopefully lead to some effective and fresh ideas.
What’s something you want your colleagues to know about you?
I’m always happy to help – as long as I’ve had my coffee.
The Personal Stuff 👩💻
What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Kind, enthusiastic and supportive.
What’s your favourite cultural moment of this past year and why?
The zoom quiz phenomenon was awesome! At one point I was involved in 4 quizzes a week and it was such a creative way to keep up with friends/family and learn cool facts. My bank of random knowledge definitely grew and I think it was a great way for people to keep their brains active and have fun even when they couldn’t meet up.
What’s your hobby or passion project outside of work?
I love to keep busy so, naturally, I have quite a few hobbies. Throughout university, I was an active member of the lacrosse team and have continued this since graduating (although now I play against a wall rather than competing teams). I also joined an aerial class, which is something I’d love to start doing again after lockdown. For the time being though, I occupy myself with lots of reading, hiking and *virtually* socialising.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Love Actually – it’s not just for Christmas!
What causes are you supportive of, and why?
Saint Vincent de Paul Society – having volunteered for 5 years I’ve had first-hand experience seeing the good they do for the vulnerable members of the community.
The Fun Stuff 🥂
Give us your best Northern Quarter bar recommendation.
I haven’t been to the Northern Quarter yet, so I’m afraid I can’t answer this one! I will definitely be trying out any recommendations though!
If you were a social media platform, which one would you be and why?
This was a difficult one! If I had to say any social media platform, I’d probably be Instagram because I love the idea of an image capturing a moment of life.
Who would be your five dream dinner party guests, dead or alive?
Leonardo Da Vinci, Mary Wollstonecraft, Richard Curtis, Cathy Cassidy & Michelle Obama
Quickfire Qs 🎯
What are you watching?
“The Great” on Channel 4.
What are you reading?
I’m re-reading “1984” by George Orwell.
What are you listening to?
Who are you ignoring?
Who are you following?
“The Guilty Feminist” podcast.
Thank you for taking the time for us to get to know you, Charlotte! We’re well excited to see the paid social team growing, and we look forward to the day (however far in the future) that we’re all reunited in an office (hopefully one with a slide 💀)
