From a dog costume parade, to inflatable monsters which have invaded the city; Manchester is pulling out all the stops for Halloween!
Last year a green and yellow tentacled creature sprouted from Kendall’s rooftop, and this year it’s brought some friends. This brand new collection of inflatable monsters have taken over some of Manchester’s most iconic buildings, including House of Fraser, Manchester Arndale, and many more.

We even spotted one round the corner from the DMT office in the Northern Quarter!
You can follow the Monster trail using this map! But these monsters aren’t the only Halloween themed event that’s happening in Manchester. If you were out doing a bit of shopping in the Arndale this weekend, you might have ran into these guys…
They treated shoppers to quite the show, even pulling off some Thriller dance moves. Michael Jackson would be proud!

But it wasn’t just the buildings and people getting dressed up – Manchester’s bars and restaurants have been getting creative with their food and decorations too. The Northern Quarter’s independent donut cafe, Siop Shop, produced some adorable little ghost meringues for the spooky season. These ghosts sit on top of a cherry & custard doughnut, and they have also made a peanut butter and chocolate one decorated like a spider’s web.
Another NQ favourite, Crazy Pedros, have won the award for best pumpkin carving with these cheeky Jack O Lantern!
Cane & Grain created a colourful cocktail with a tongue in cheeky name – The Basic W*tch.
Halloween isn’t until Wednesday, but Manchester has already had plenty of colourful and creepy costumes on display in the city. Here are a few of the best that were on show this weekend.
But DMT’s favourite Halloween celebration so far, has to be the ‘The Spooky Pooch Costume Show’ that was held in Exchange Square. Hundreds of dogs dressed up as superheroes, witches and pumpkins to compete for prizes and raise money for charity.

Look how adorable they are!
Those dogs can rock an outfit, and like the rest of Manchester, they’ve truly embraced the spooky spirit. Whether you love it or hate it, there’s plenty more Halloween related events running around the city in the next few days and on the big night itself! Are you stuck for costume inspiration? Why not dress up as your favourite viral meme?
