Barnton Cricket Club

The Client

Barnton Cricket Club is a thriving social club based in the village of Barnton, Northwich. Established in 1880, the club currently has approximately 1200 members.

The club has a busy social calendar and hosts many events and private functions throughout the calendar year. As the name suggests, the club is also home to a cricket team, in addition to squash, bowls and darts teams.

The Challenge

Barnton Cricket Club already had a Facebook group set up, but they wanted to set up an official Facebook page from which regular posts could be scheduled to promote to existing members and Facebook users who may be interested in joining.

The client wished to raise awareness of the club’s location, which is hidden away slightly in the village, in addition to building an online community where club members could keep up with the club’s news and events.

Our Solution

We begun by creating a Facebook page for the Cricket Club, using their logo and an image of the club’s exterior. We added three core services to the top of the page, so people could see the key USPs of the club. We added a ‘send message’ button to the page so that people could easily contact the page with any questions or issues they may have.

We set up a page like campaign, targeted at the local area, in order to build an audience of followers. We began posting regular content based around local news, club history, as well as any key events upcoming in the club’s calendar.

We used our ad spend to promote special events and messages as directed by the club owner.

The Result

The client was very happy with the positive start that Digital Media Team made with the club’s page. Within just over a month we had generated the following results:

  • 471 page likes from local people in the Barnton area
  • 2 private function bookings via Facebook message
  • Sold out events that had been promoted through our advertising
