COS Recruitment

The Client

COS is a recruitment agency based in Macclesfield, Cheshire. Established in 1982, COS is fiercely proud of its long-standing heritage and position in the local community.

The client’s slogan is ‘because people matter’, and this shines through in their philosophy of matching the right people to the right jobs. By holding on to more ‘old fashioned’ methods of recruitment such as meeting every jobseeker they work with, but introducing new marketing techniques, COS is able to deliver a recruitment service with a difference.

The Challenge

When we approached the client, they had just 153 likes on their Facebook page. Having already established a successful and long-running recruitment agency, it was time to translate that success into the social world. As they were entering their 35th anniversary year, they felt it was time to make an impact on Facebook.

COS wished for brand awareness, page growth and a consistent tone of voice to be evoked via their Facebook content. They would also be looking to promote the occasional job, and were unsure whether to do this organically or through advertising.

Our Solution

We began by taking a look at the page appearance. Although the client had a brilliant website, their Facebook page looked quite dated in comparison. We used design elements from their site to create a new cover image, and this brought colour and consistency to their page.

The next step was to begin posting content. We knew that COS wished to convey a professional yet friendly tone of voice, so we opted for a mix of articles that would appeal to jobseekers and posts about the company, staff and their services.

We initially ran page like campaigns to grow the audience, and we saw some brilliant results from this method. In order to boost the audience some more, we ran a competition to win a £100 shopping spree – this helped us take the page likes to almost 1000 – which is a great landmark for a small agency with such heritage.

The Result

  • Grew page likes by over 500%
  • Created an on-brand page consistent to the client’s website
  • Filled an urgent job role via a boosted post just before the busy Christmas period
