DMT Spotlight: Cameron
DMT has grown once again and we’ve added a brand new Paid Social Executive to our team, Cameron! With a Master’s in Marketing from Manchester Met and a background in digital marketing, we couldn’t be more excited to have Cameron on board.
We caught up with him during his first week to see how he’s settling in…
Can you tell us a bit about your position at DMT?
I’m a paid social executive. This basically means I create, monitor and analyse campaigns for companies on social media. This involves testing different types of ads and strategically placing them to see which works best for that audience.
What attracted you to the company?
DMT tackles campaigns differently. They tackle paid social in an innovative way. DMT don’t just throw money at campaigns and hope for the best, they immerse themselves in the clients’ brand in order to understand the audience, then target ads specifically to tailor their needs.
What kind of challenges do you face in your role?
I’d say the biggest challenge is to understand the audience. One advertisement that may work well for one company might not work as well for another, so it’s about finding the balance.
What’s the best bit about your role?
Creating the strategy behind the campaign. Looking at how to tackle the campaign in the best way possible.
What’s been your favourite project to work on so far?
Rebellious. There has been a great level of freedom to test and try out different strategies with this client, this means I’ve been able to experiment and with different audiences of the brand.
If you were a social media platform, which one would you be and
Twitter. I have lots of useless facts that pop up into my head.
Finally, what advice would you give to anyone wanting to follow in
Immerse yourself in anything social! Create a swipefile of your favourite ads. Basically, find adverts that you like, or even adverts that have converted you to purchase an item, and think ‘why is this a good ad?’ Analyse everything!
