Saying goodbye to Summer for another year is always an adjustment! But, a new season means new ways to make the most out of everything our beloved city has to offer.

Whether you’re heading to Manchester for a mini-break or a local stuck for ways to spend your weekend, we’ve picked out four things you can do in the rainy city we love so much this Autumn!

Hit Up Coffee Shops & Brunch Spots

Manchester is known for a lot of things; football, music and culture, to name just a few. But in recent years, our city has become an epicentre for independent cafes and top-tier food.

Mancunians have been warming up with a good ol’ cuppa for as long as we can remember. So, if you’re looking for a new favourite coffee joint and brunch spot this Autumn, the Northern Quarter homes a whole roster of independents with the Mancunian seal of approval!

Ezra and Gil is a local favourite neighbourhood hangout, serving not only a good cup of coffee but a delicious menu too - their smashed pumpkin on toast is an Autumn dish worth shouting about. In need of a pick-me-up? Feel Good Club is the perfect place to leave your worries at the door (their Instagram page is an absolute must to follow too).

Or, head over to Koffee Pot - the perfect blend of greasy spoon and trendy bar, serving locally-brewed filter coffees and no-nonsense fry-ups. In their own words, they’ve been ‘causing and curing hangovers since 1978’.

Oktoberfest

If you’re not heading to Germany for Oktoberfest, spending it in Manchester is the next best thing (no, really!). Celebrating Oktoberfest in Manchester has become a cult event, with thousands of people flocking to attend each year.

And, not just to the Oktoberfest event - independent bars and restaurants all over the city run themed events, offers and discounts so you can join in with the Bavarian celebrations! In particular, our favourite after-work drinks hub, Oast House!

Halloween in the City

With Autumn comes Spooky Season. If you’re looking for a way to celebrate Halloween in the city, you won’t be short of monstrously good events to attend. Keep a look out for rooftop invasions, and Walk the Plank’s monster parade through the Arndale Centre and onto Market Street.

Looking for something a bit spookier? Take a trip to Lark Hill Halloween: The Darkness and Dangers Virtual Tour, an eerie Victorian street with hidden scares lurking at every corner. Or, visit a terrifying horror-themed escape room!

Scary not your thing? Pumpkin patches are a great day out, and the good news? Manchester has loadssss of them. Whether you love carving or you’re just doing it for the ‘gram - head over to The Dunham Pumpkin Patch in Altrincham, Kenyon Hall Farm in Warrington or Cockfields Farm in Ashton-Under-Lyne, to name just a few!

Autumn Walks

Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle of big city living. If you’re in the mood for an Autumnal stroll, Manchester is conveniently surrounded by parks and country walks that are a mere stone's throw from the city centre!

Whitworth Park is a lovely bit of green space located right next to our concrete utopia - after a much-needed stroll, you can head over to the renowned Whitworth Art Gallery, which houses thousands of paintings and sculptures. Another green haven close to the city is Fletcher Moss Park in Didsbury, a beautifully preserved botanical garden open from dawn ‘til dusk every day.

Or, if you’re looking for somewhere further out of the city, Lyme Park nestles on the edge of the Peak District and offers scenic walks and unbeatable views of the city! Not only that, it’s only a short train journey away, which is ideal for a quick day trip.

And there you have it, four ways to make the most of Manchester this Autumn! Got any more suggestions? Slide into our DM’s on socials and let us know what you think.
