The content team just got even bigger. Recently, Ciara joined the gang! We sat down and had a chat with the self-confessed film nerd about #FreeBritney, Star Wars, and lots more cool stuff.

The Work Stuff 📈

Tell us a little bit about your role of content writer here at dmt.

As a content writer, my job is to write copy for paid social, PPC ads, blogs, and emails for a variety of clients. I enjoy adapting my tone of voice to suit different clients and the creative freedom this gives me. It means the job never gets boring!

Tell us about your background. What led you to this career/industry?

I recently graduated with a BA in Film Studies from Warwick University, which involved a lot of essay writing. I wanted to find a job that would allow me to develop my existing writing skills in a creative and future-thinking industry. DMT was perfect for me as my skills are appreciated here and there are many opportunities for me to develop my knowledge of the digital marketing industry. Plus, everyone here is so laid back and friendly, so I feel like I fit right in.

What is something unique that you think you bring to the role?

I have lots of experience writing both long-form and short-form, meaning I find it very easy to switch between writing short ad copy and long blog posts. It’s a useful skill to have for this role!

What’s something you want your colleagues to know about you?

I’ll never say no to after-work drinks.

The Personal Stuff 👩‍💻

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Reliable, caring, and fun.

What’s your favourite cultural moment of this past year and why?

#FreeBritney. I’ve been a massive Britney fan since I was a kid, so I was heartbroken when I found out what she was going through. I think it’s incredible that raising awareness through a hashtag on social media has managed to get her out of that exploitative situation. Hopefully, she’s finally out there living her best life now!

What’s your hobby or passion project outside of work?

I’m a huge film nerd, so I spend a lot of my time curled up in bed either watching obscure foreign films no one’s ever heard of or rewatching Star Wars for the 100th time. There is no in-between.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

I don’t believe in guilty pleasures – you shouldn’t be ashamed of things that make you happy! That being said, I have seen Mamma Mia! over 50 times and I’m told that’s not normal.

What causes are you supportive of, and why?

I volunteer for an organisation called Girls Against, which stands up against sexual assault and misogyny in the UK live music scene. As someone who loves going to gigs, I think their work is super important to make sure everyone can feel safe and have a good time.

The Fun Stuff 🥂

Give us your best Northern Quarter bar recommendation.

NQ64 is pretty cool because it combines two of my favourite things – cocktails and Guitar Hero.

If you were a social media platform, which one would you be and why?

Probably Twitter, because I am always talking about stuff that no one cares about and love drama.

Who would be your five dream dinner party guests, dead or alive?

Lady Gaga, Stevie Nicks, Carrie Fisher, Britney Spears, RuPaul.

Quickfire Qs 🎯
