It’s that time again! We’re welcoming another lovely member to the gang. This time we’ve got a new addition into the team that started it all – our original speciality, paid social. Let’s take a few to get to know Jess, the latest member of our ever-growing paid social team!
The Work Stuff 📈
Tell us a little bit about your role on the paid social team at DMT.
As a Paid Social Exec, I work across social media advertising for different clients. This includes optimisation and ad building. We work across a range of platforms including Facebook, Snapchat and TikTok to name a few!
Tell us about your background. What led you to this career/industry?
I completed a BA in Filmmaking and whilst I was making short films I realised the part I enjoyed the most was the promotion and distribution. A few months after graduating I started working for a large company in-house, learning the ins and outs of digital marketing. Social media marketing is something I’ve always kept up to date with and it links nicely to other channels.
What is something unique that you think you bring to the role?
Previously, I’ve worked on both a paid media team and a creative team. I think my blend of skills gives me an insight into the performance of creative assets, and how we can utilise different mediums to achieve results.
What’s something you want your colleagues to know about you?
I don’t drink tea or coffee but find me a good hot choc and we’ll be great friends!
The Personal Stuff 👩💻
What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Outgoing, fun, and kind.
What’s your favourite cultural moment of this past year and why?
Everyone looking for ways to entertain themselves during the first lockdown. Like most people, I too baked several banana breads before realising that, actually, I’m not the talented baker I thought I was. But it was great to see everyone’s ideas and creations on social during that time – I definitely picked up some new skills!
What’s your hobby or passion project outside of work?
In my spare time, I volunteer for a rare disease charity working on creative assets, SEO and content! I love to be creative, so it gives me the opportunity to work on various projects whilst helping out a good cause.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Cheeseboards. Some people like a Maccies on a night out, but I’m out there looking for a decent cheeseboard.
What causes are you supportive of, and why?
Black Lives Matter. I believe it’s important for everyone to have a voice and be heard. Racial discrimination is a very real thing in 2021 and we need to work together to raise awareness for the movement and keep the momentum going.
The Fun Stuff 🥂
Give us your best Northern Quarter bar recommendation.
I’m a big fan of The Foundry Project – bottomless brunch there is a must!
If you were a social media platform, which one would you be and why?
Pinterest – I love to plan e v e r y t h i n g, including my post-lockdown wardrobe, and I love taking pictures!
Who would be your five dream dinner party guests, dead or alive?
I had a blank with this one, I think you could learn so much at a dinner with; Aliza Licht, Jamie Genevieve, Dua Lipa, Zoe Sugg & Katherine Ryan.
