The Work Stuff 📈

Tell us about your background. What led you to DMT?

I have been working in fashion for just over 10 years. Following my undergrad I worked as a womenswear designer. Over time my role became more involved in Account Management, this naturally evolved into Creative Brand Management and Business Development, where I have focused the past 7 years. I have an entrepreneurial spirit at heart, and feel passionate about helping brands and businesses grow. I also hold a Masters in Business Enterprise, and have always been interested in the brand process, from concept to creation. My varied background and experience also equipped me to offer my expertise and services as a freelance brand consultant. I have helped several start-ups, SME businesses and corporations to define, deliver and grow visual, creative and brand identities. This includes a range of businesses from lifestyle brands, fashion brands, festivals, events, and projects for corporations such as the BBC. After the pandemic, I felt that a fresh challenge was needed and reached out within my network for opportunities. Having worked with DMT on the client side, I was always drawn to the energy, passion and drive of the team. There was great synergy, the stars aligned as they say, and I was offered an exciting role I could not refuse!

What is something unique that you think you bring to the role?

I have worked with DMT as a client, with two previous companies where I was Brand Manager and Head of Business Development. I feel this puts me in a unique and relatable position when facing clients, as I can better understand the mind set and challenges of owner led businesses. In addition to this, I have good all round experience and knowledge in vast areas of business operations, which blend well in my new role at DMT.

What’s something you want your colleagues to know about you?

I actually had a major dog phobia prior to joining DMT, (partly due to a traumatic childhood experience) but thanks to this being a dog friendly office I’ve come to love and look forward to pooch visits!

The Personal Stuff 👨💻

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Loyal, resilient and driven.

What’s your favourite cultural moment from the last year and why?

The Friends Reunion! Mainly as it bought back so much nostalgia of the 90s and 00s, I loved watching the show. The last episode also held a lot of sentiment at the time for me and my circle of friends, it seemed so poignant and relatable, that it aired as we were finishing college life and embarking on new chapters. Not to mention every friend group probably has someone you can identify to the cast right! I certainly know a ‘Monica’ or a ‘Joey’!

What’s your hobby or passion project outside of work?

I feel over the pandemic I’ve reconnected with my love for cooking, exploring my cultural food roots and family recipes, but also experimenting to take on my own twist. I also love travelling as it really does open up your mind and soul. This goes in hand with my passion for photography, so you’ll most probably find me lost behind the lens trying to capture those candid moments and creative shots of my surroundings.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Ben and Jerry's Chocolate fudge brownie ice cream!

What causes are you supportive of, and why?

I am definitely a humanitarian at heart and very passionate about a number of causes both Global and at home. Whether it’s supporting children in conflict zones and war, welfare or homelessness, I believe we should always strive to better the lives of those less fortunate and do the best we can to make the world a better place.

The Fun Stuff 🥂

Give us your best Manchester bar recommendation.

I’m not a drinker but I do enjoy going out to places where the atmosphere and ambience has a vibe. I’m always the first one to the party and the last one to leave! A few of my recommendations would include The Alchemist, Flight Club, 20 Stories, Menagerie, Ivy, Tattu, Richmond Tea Rooms, and Grand Pacific. The Cotton Factory is also a recent gem of a find!

If you were a social media platform, which one would you be and why?

Instagram for sure, I’m a very visual person

Who would be your five dream dinner party guests, dead or alive?

Oprah, Lilly Singh, Mohammed Ali, Steve Jobs, Dr Dre

Quickfire Qs 🎯
