The days are getting shorter, the weather is getting colder and the spooky season has well and truly arrived.

If your office is anything like ours at DMT, you are probably all brainstorming ideas for a costume competition at the end of the month. I mean, nothing brings your team together like deciding which funny (but mildly appropriate) costumes to wear around the office on Halloween.

From our favourite TV shows to our boss’ worst fears, the copy gang have spent a whole week thinking about the most creative Halloween costume ideas. Ahead, find 10 of our top picks that will place you and your team as the winning group.

(This list may or may not include our final decision)

The Cast of Harry Potter

This one is for all the Potterheads out there - challenge your inner magic and fetch out those old school shirts from the back of your wardrobe. Pair it with a comfy cardi, a striped tie and round novelty glasses for the ultimate Hogwarts aesthetic.

Spice Girls

Spice up your work life with costumes inspired by the four iconic Spice Girls. If you’re lucky enough to have a group of female colleagues (or a guy who doesn’t mind putting on a dress & wig) you’re definitely in for the win!

70s Pop Stars

The time has finally come. After all those years of channelling your inner disco diva, you now get to wear those flares and play an iconic 70s pop star for the day. We’re talkin’ ABBA, Cher, Elton John, Freddie Mercury and Dolly Parton! So go on - get your dancing queens together and turn the office into the ultimate 70s disco.

The Addams Family

Some say cliche, we say a classic! The Addams family will be a forever favourite, especially if you can master Wednesday’s iconic plaits, Morticia’s long black hair and Uncle Fester’s bald head. Ditch the fancy costumes and take full advantage of the black and white staples in your wardrobe.

Shrek

Nothing says winner like spending a day in the office dressed as a green ogre! If you and your team can master these classic characters, you are almost guaranteed the first-place prize. From Shrek and Fiona to the Fairy Godmother and Pinocchio, there’s no doubt that this movie cast has something for everyone.

The Muppets

Although slightly more difficult to achieve, the Muppets are a great idea for those who are willing to put in the effort. From Kermit the Frog to the one and only Miss Piggy, you’ll definitely turn a few heads in the office this Halloween.

Scooby-Doo Characters

This one is for the team builders, the problem solvers and the Scooby-Doo lovers. Even if you haven’t got the correct number of men & women, you'll still look the part when you dress up as Scooby, Shaggy, Daphne, Freddie and Velma.

Toy Story Characters

Another classic but an easy winner if you manage to hit the nail on the head. From Woody & Jessie to Barbie & Ken, the Toy Story cast is guaranteed to have a character which suits every member of your team. So go on - get your costumes at the ready and reach for the sky!

Minions

Just like your team, these brightly coloured little characters are hardworking and fun to be around. Whether you want to paint yourself yellow or not, the Minions is actually a super easy look to achieve. You can buy the full costume on Amazon or create your own with a denim playsuit, a long sleeve yellow top, yellow socks, a yellow beanie, black gloves and black trainers.

The Wizard of Oz

Let’s face it - you don’t need a wizard to replicate this timeless group. With a huge number of Oz costumes on the internet, you can easily dress up as Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Lion and, of course, the Witch. If your team is slightly bigger, don’t be afraid to go all out and add a few munchkins into the mix!
